Jag Mandir

Eleven palaces built over four centuries, stacked along Lake Pichola.
Maharana Udai Singh II began the City Palace in the 16th century and his successors kept adding to it for close to four hundred years. The result is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan: a run of courtyards, balconies and towers along the east bank of Lake Pichola.
Inside the City Palace Museum, look for Mor Chowk and its glass-mosaic peacocks, the mirror work of Sheesh Mahal, and the royal portrait galleries. The upper terraces give the best view in the city across the lake to Jag Mandir and the Lake Palace.
Entry to City Palace: ₹300–400 adult (museum). Fees were last checked in October 2026 and change often, so confirm at the counter.
City Palace timings: 9 am – 9 pm.
Time needed at City Palace: 2–3 hours.
Best time to visit City Palace: at opening, before tour groups.
